Karin has spent her entire career advising successful families and business owners on the preservation of wealth. Karin’s expertise ranges from (i) saving income and estate taxes on the sale of a business, to (ii) assisting clients with the achievement of their philanthropic goals, to (iii) preparing the next generation to inherit liquid wealth or a going-concern family business. Karin also has a particular focus on advising the tech-oriented entrepreneur and has been quoted extensively in local and national newspapers and magazines and featured on WSBT and WBBM’s evening news for her views regarding cryptocurrency, digital assets and estate planning. Prior to joining BBH Multi-Family Office in 2014, she had a distinguished career in private law practice. She received a B.A. in Business, summa cum laude, from Mount St. Mary's University and a J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law, where she was elected to the Order of the Coif and was published in the Virginia Tax Review.
Ms. Carmona has built a distinguished career in Trusts and Estates over more than two decades, focusing on estate and business succession planning, philanthropy, fiduciary administration, litigation, and the setup of family offices and private trust companies. She started her career in private practice at two large law firms in New York and Chicago, then transitioned to the trust administration and wealth management sector. Currently, as Managing Director and Wealth Advisor at J.P. Morgan Private Bank, she advises ultra-high net worth clients on estate planning and business succession strategies. Previously, Ms. Carmona led the Trust Services department at a private trust company. Ms. Carmona obtained a Master of Business Administration 21 years after obtaining her law degree, and she serves as Adjunct Faculty at the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law, where she teaches Estates and Trusts.
